RTSC is providing a once-a-month food box to any families who have children attending Steffan Manor Elementary. These boxes include meat, dairy and vegetables.

Rebuilding Together Solano County continues to serve low income Veterans, people with disabilities and citizens of Vallejo and Solano County. The Food Bank of Solano County is now partnering with RTSC to donate food each week (sometimes over 1,200 pounds each week) that we include in the giveaway. In addition, Costco continues to donate food twice a week. Food distribution occurs each Wednesday and Thursday out of the Community Presbyterian Church parking lot and fellowship hall.

Changes to RTSC food pantry at Community Presbyterian Church

As COVID 19 has been very challenging to everyone, RTSC food pantry has expanded to help meet the growing needs in our community. The number of food pantry clients per month has risen from 150 (pre-COVID-19) to more than 1,200 households as well as the amount of food distributed has increased from 500 lbs to 12,000 lbs per week.

Out of COVID-19 concerns for both our food volunteers and food clients our food Pantry was closed from March 15th to May 15th, 2020. Then, following new COVID-19 protocols from the CDC, Food Bank and RT National, RTSC re-established the weekly food distribution at CPC on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Costco, who donates food was not donating enough food so we now get food from the Food Bank on Mondays and Tuesdays to meet the rising needs.

In addition, RTSC noticed that the food insecurity was so great in Solano County due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent job loss.  As such, RTSC expanded our food pantry distributions to 30 homebound seniors and 11 additional mobile sites.  This includes:

Vallejo:

  • Steffan Manor Elementary (5 times a month)
  • Carquinez Highland Mobile Homes
  • Olympia Mobile Home Park
  • Vallejo Broadway Mobile Homes
  • Vallejo Mobile Home Estates
  • Solano County Veterans

Fairfield Mobile Home Parks:

  • Casa Nova Mobile Home Park
  • Country Club Mobile Home Park
  • Dover Mobile Home Park
  • Fairfield RV and Mobile Home Park

CPC has been integral in this partnership both with volunteers and building space.
